Ashley C of E Primary School

The School Day

We welcome children into school from 7.30am at our breakfast club.

This is classed as childcare and we charge for attendance, which includes a freshly-cooked healthy breakfast.

The gates to the school site are opened at 8.25am each morning. Gates close at 8.40am and all children should be in their classrooms at this time. The morning register is taken promptly at 8.45am. Any children arriving after 8.40am enter via the main school office and their parent signs them in using our electronic system. This records the exact time and reason for being late.

Playtimes and lunchtimes are staggered to ensure that the maximum use is made of our wonderful grounds. Morning playtime is 15 minutes and lunchtime is 50 minutes. There are no scheduled afternoon playtimes, but teachers are able to take children outside as appropriate.

Children have daily collective worship, either in the hall or their classrooms and these cover our school values, British values, bible stories, singing, world news and achievers.

Children in KS1 and KS2 will have PE sessions twice a week, Reception once per week and children come to school wearing their PE kit for the whole day. PE days change throughout the year depending on the PE being taught at the time, but year groups share these changes directly with parents.

School finishes at 3.10pm for all children. To reduce congestion, parents enter the school site via the car park gates at the end of the day before leaving via the main gates with their children.

Our after-school care accommodates children from the end of school and up until 6.00pm if required.

On the last day of each full term (see our term dates) we finish school for all children at 1.30pm. After-school care on those days is up to 4.30pm.
