School Dinner Service

Please take a look at the menu for the next half term.

The school dinner service has got off to a flying start, providing over 230 dinners every day. The children seem to be enjoying the family service aspect of the operation, meaning that they are not having to queue and can serve and be served by their friends at the table.

We have an extremely capable catering staff who are very much part of the Ashley team and committed to making mealtimes as successful as possible. Family service is new for them too, so we are constantly reviewing the balance of portions versus waste, as well as the children’s likes and dislikes.

Mr Dunne has communicated with the children about taking what they will eat, to encourage a clean plate and minimise waste. That said, if your child is hungry on any given day rather than dashing out to play please encourage them to go to the hatch to see Mrs Long for seconds. Whilst this has been an option to date, some children do not seem to be taking it up. We will be concentrating on this next term so if you have any feedback on your particular child please let us know.

We are listening to your comments as they come in and tweaking things as we go. The menu is analysed to ensure that it is nutritionally balanced but you may have a particular question and we’d be happy to hear from you.

The cost of school dinners is:

1^st Half-Term - 27 days = £56.70

2^nd Half-Term – 30 days = £63.00

Full Term – 57 days = £119.70

If you would like to pay two weekly or would like to do a two week trial, the cost will be £21.00 paid in advance.

Online payment is a huge help to the office. Please log in to  www.surrey.gov.uk/schoolmeals - the school’s reference is ECEE0421.

Cheques should be made out to ‘Surrey County Council’ writing your child’s name and class on the back of the cheque. If cash, please send in a sealed envelope marked Dinner Money, your child’s name and class. 

If you have not taken up a lunch and would like to explore the option please feel free to come and talk with me. We can cater for special dietary requirements and would set up a meeting for you with Mrs Long if that helps.
