School Dinner Service
We continue to work with Surrey Commercial Services to ensure that the food is as appetizing, nutritional and sustainable as possible.
We use produce that is seasonal and local, including the a wide variety of fruit and vegetables grown by the children in the school grounds. In addition, we are consciously reducing our use of red meat, to reduce our carbon footprint and have introduced meat free days to show to the children that food doesn’t have to include meat to be nutritious and delicious.
Our menu broadly follows the Gold Food for Life Menu and if your child has any particular dietary requirements, do let the school office know and we can ensure that there is a suitable alternative. If you have a ‘fussy’ eater school can offer a great opportunity to help your child, do come and talk to us about how we can tackle this together.
We would like as many children as possible to take part in school meals and to this end, we work hard to make the lunch time experience a really positive one. We operate a Family Service rather than canteen style operation, where the children are served or for the older ones serve each other, at the table. This avoids queuing and creates a mealtime to be shared with friends.
We use china, glass and child friendly cutlery, rather than multicolored plastic airline trays and beakers. The children are encouraged to drink all their water to ensure that they are hydrated and that this precious resource is not wasted.
From time to time we invite parents in to join their children for lunch, do watch out for communication about this from the school office.
